Digging the wells of Prosperity
A message inspired by Ps Iliafi Esera A / G Vice Superintendant
Gen 26: 1-4 NKJV There was a famine in the land
Isaac went to Abimelech - King of Philistines
In other words - he went to the bank - to man - not to God
Psm 65:11 Abundant harvest
1 Stay where you are meant to be
V's 2 "Don't go to Egypt, live in land which I tell you"
Live in confines parameter where God has called and placed you.
V's 3 Dwell in this land and I will bless you. Gerar town inland from current Gaza
Don't go chasing help where God does not want you to go
In a Famine - tough times - some people move - cause THEY want to.
Move jobs, homes, churches : but not because the Lord Says.
Some churches move - this will be better - Jack Hayford same street - found another building
God told me .. God told me .. ( He changed his mind )
Abraham went to Egypt - Hagar came from there - as a servant to Sarai - Devil plans over time!
2 Deal with Deception of the past
Gen 26:7 NKJV Men asked about wife - "she is my sister - because she is too beautiful"
Men this is NOT the way to build a loving & trusting relationship
This is generational Abraham did this in Egypt - Gen 12:13 NLT says - treat me well
Not enough - again to Abimelech - Gen 20:2 - same king
V's 9 Ab looked out window & Isaac " fondling intimately" - actions found him out
Past sin - deception must be brought to the light
Front up to it - consequences may not be as bad as you imagine - Ab made a law to protect!
Deal with it
Woombye / Word of Life
3 Sow into the famine
Gen 26:12 NKJV Isaac sowed same year reaped 100 fold
Plant in the place where God has put you In the Famine
Psm 65:11 you have crowned year with goodness - harvest - Where you are - IF YOU SOW
V's 13 He began to prosper ... continued prospering ... very prosperous
STORY
4 Learn to deal with people who contend with your well
Gen 26:15 NKJV Philistines had stopped up .. Abraham's wells .. filled earth
Guard your heart with all diligence - filling wells with dirt - Dumb! You just get angry!
V's 14b Philistines envied him
V's 18 Dug again the wells
V's 19-20 Servants found a well - herdsman quarrelled "this water is ours"
Called the well Esek : Arguement or Quarrel Strife
V's 21 They dug another well also quarrelled Sitnah : Opposition or Enmity Hatred
Must deal with contentions properly
Overcome opposition in the Spirit of Christ
V's 22 Moved and Dug another well did not quarrel Rehoboth; spaciousness Prosperity "now the Lord has made room enough - and we shall be fruitful"
5 Keep Godly priorities
Gen 26:23 - 25 NKJV Went Beersheba - built an altar - Called on Lord - pitched his tent
NB Issac did not pitch tent and build an Altar.
Put the Lord first
Wherever Isaac put his spade - he prospered - crops, flocks, wells
There Isaac's servants dug another well!
V's 32b & 33 the name of the city is Beersheba The Charge of the Light horse
He named the well Shebah ; well of seven; Oath
We have on oath
John 3:16 NLT "For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life"
Will you dig a well / another well / a well of prosperity /
